 The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to unanimously support
Councilmember José Huizar’s motion to strike the hardship exemption
from the City’s medical marijuana interim control ordinance, which has
resulted in hundreds of unregulated medical marijuana facilities opening
up more than 18 months past the deadline to temporarily halt such
action.

Also, on Tuesday, Council acted on Councilmember Huizar and other
councilmembers request to begin  hearing hardship exemption cases. Four
of the dozen or so hardship exemption cases in Council District 14 came
before the full council Tuesday.  All four were denied. Three were
located in the Northeast and one in El Sereno. Councilmember Huizar will
now ask City agencies to take action to close down these facilities.
